Account Manager
Sales & Business Development · Full-time
Florida, USA
Build the modern service network for heavy equipment.
At Heave, we are taking on one of the most overlooked problems in construction: heavy equipment downtime. For too long, contractors have been stuck relying on dealer service departments that are slow, expensive, opaque, and not built around the urgency of a job site. A machine sitting still can cost a contractor $1,000 an hour. We give contractors and fleet owners a faster way to get field service done, through vetted independent technicians, transparent pricing, technician choice, and multi brand coverage. Median time from service request to first technician response is under two minutes. Nearly 80% of jobs are completed within 24 hours.
About the Opportunity
Heave is hiring an Account Manager to grow and retain accounts across the Southeast, starting the moment Business Development hands them off. This is a field-first role built around proactive coverage. You will be on the job site and in front of the account regularly, not waiting for a ticket to come in. You will own a book of accounts handed to you at their 5th completed order, already vetted and already buying. Your job starts where business development ends: Build the plan that drives each account to lock-in at order 15, then keeps it growing every year after. You will report into Heave's sales leadership and work closely with the CEO as we build out our go-to-market structure.
Key Responsibilities
Account Growth & Lock-In
Take ownership of each account at its 5th completed order, through a handoff completed in one week.
Drive every account to lock-in at the 15th order, with a clear plan for the 90 days after handoff.
Grow gross profit on your book year over year, managing fleet uploads, new branches, and new contacts as each account expands.
Proactive Coverage
Run a proactive touch plan on every account in your book, with on-site visits weighted highest.
Treat reactive service as table stakes, not the job. The work is getting ahead of the account.
Keep HubSpot accurate on every record. It is the source of truth for handoffs and commission alike.
Ownership & Handoffs
Serve as the single point of contact for every account in your book.
Flag accounts showing Strategic-scale potential to sales leadership rather than managing them alone.
You have one job. Grow every account you are handed toward lock-in, then keep it growing after.
Skills and Experience
5+ years of account management / customer success experience, owning a named book of accounts.
Background selling into construction, heavy equipment, industrial services, rental, or fleet preferred.
Track record of growing existing accounts, not just maintaining them.
Experience managing a handoff process, with attention to how a transition feels to the customer.
Comfortable using a CRM (HubSpot) to manage a book and report accurately.
Self-directed. You do not need someone telling you which account needs attention this week.
Based in or near Florida (preferably Tampa) with willingness to travel within the territory.
